What's New for 2011

Happy New Year to all our current and potential customers!

2011 for Bredon Hill Consultancy looks full of change - changes for the better.  Here are just a few of the new services we will be offering:

New NVQs

Most NVQs have changed in structure and content, with a few due to change in April 2011 (Financial Services and Contact Centre).  We have updated our qualification pages to reflect the differences.

New NVQ Assessment Methods

At Bredon Hill Consultancy we pride ourselves on delivering quality face-to-face NVQ assessment services.  Typically we meet candidates every 3-4 weeks to review progress and plan future actions.

However we recognise that fewer people work traditional hours any more and so to cater for all learners, Bredon Hill Consultany are offering to assess learners through a mix of distance learning and face-to-face assessments.  As long as learners have internet access (and ideally access to a scanner) they can upload evidence any time to a secure server which we can log into and assess.

Benefits of remote assessment (using e-Portfolio)

  • Sometimes learners focus their NVQ efforts just before their assessor visit.  Using e-Portfolio enables learners to upload evidence at the same time as they are doing their work.  This could mean quicker completion.
  • e-Portfolio reduces the amount of paper evidence in folders and is a more environmentally friendly method of assessment.
  • Learners get regular feedback and encouragement from their assessors in between planned visits.
  • Customers pay reduced mileage costs of assessors visiting learners.

ILM Management Qualifications through Distance Learning

In 2010, Bredon Hill Consultancy made the transition from a provider of endorsed management training to a fully accredited ILM Centre.  This means we now offer the following:

Level 2 Award, Certificate and Diploma in Team Leading

Level 3 Award, Certificate and Diploma in First Line Management

Level 3 Award in Effective Management

We usually deliver these qualifications in traditional training room formats, which means that the timings and venues need to be convenient for learners.  Because BHC realise that people cannot always make the time commitment to attend courses, we will be offering individual learners the opportunity to study ILM maangement qualifications through a combination of distance learning and face-to-face coaching.

Please phone Kirstie on 01684 772671 or e-mail kirstie@bredonhillconsultancy.co.uk of you want any further information at no obligation to you.

ILM Open Management Courses

Bredon Hill Consultancy are pleased to announce the launch of open ILM courses throughout Gloucestershire and Swindon starting in June 2010.

The course offered initially will be the brand new ILM Level 3 Award in Effective Management covering topics such as Leadership, Building Teams, Managing Performance and Planning Change.

Head of Training Kirstie Cutler explained:  "This is the management programme I wish I'd had access to when I was first a manager.  It is four days of engaging, interactive learning with plenty of practical activity.  The learning is then reinforced through practical, relevant work-based assignments and assessed skills practicals.  The programme is quality assured by the Institute of Leadership and Management and is suitable for both new and potential managers.  Learners will also have the option to upgrade to the ILM Level 3 Award in First Line Management by completing the unit M3.01 Problem Solving and Making Decisions workbook and assignment"

The open courses will take place in Tewkesbury, Cheltenham, Swindon and Gloucester.

In-house courses are also available from £3800 + £82.25 registration fee per person  (maximum 12 people).

New ILM Qualifications

Bredon Hill Consultancy are now a full Institute of Leadership and Management (ILM) Centre.  This means we can now offer nationally recognised qualifications such as:

Level 2 Award, Certificate or Diploma in Team Leading

Level 3 Award, Certificate or Diploma in First Line Management.

These qualifications are suitable for aspiring or existing team leaders and managers and they can be designed to suit your learners and your budget.

Both suites of qualifications require structured training, followed by work-based assignments.  This really embeds training and leads very quickly to workplace changes and benefits.

New Retail Financial Services NVQs and Apprenticeships

In response to public demand, Bredon Hill Consultancy are pleased to announce that they are now able to offer the Retail Financial Services NVQs and apprenticeships.  This is the replacement qualification for the Insurance NVQs and apprenticeships. It helps to demonstrate competence under the FSA's Training & Competence (T&C) rules.

The qualifications are particularly suitable for people who can demonstrate knowledge through professional and technical exams, but need to show day to day competence.  Experience shows that such schemes are excellent motivational tools and help attract and retain valued and experienced staff. As EDI, the awarding body says:

"This qualification is based on the standards developed by the Financial Services Skills Council (FSSC) and is designed for candidates who are working in areas such as general insurance, life insurance, banking and building societies, financial services advice and investment administration.

The flexible structure of the qualification allows candidates to pursue a specific technical job focus whilst still providing the opportunity for them to gain competence in a wide range of job roles within the Financial Services Sector. Additionally, candidates are given the opportunity to develop core competences such as personal effectiveness, communication and teamworking, in a context that is directly related to their specific technical focus."

BHC Expands to Offer Training Toys

BHC has started to offer a selection of toys and stress relievers, which can be used by learners during training courses or in classes.   Far from providing a frivolous distraction, these toys may aid learners' concentration - particularly if they have activist or kinaesthetic learning preferences.  They may also be useful for anxious learners or those with ADD or ADHD.

The selection of toys available have been specifically chosen by Kirstie Cutler based on her training experience over the past 10 years and many are not available in the UK.

Kirstie says: "This is an exciting development and a natural complement to the training and assessment services BHC offers.  I have found it difficult to find training toys that last more than a few sessions; hold people's attention and are affordable.  I hope that the selection on offer will go someway to improving the choice available to trainers and teachers."

Training toys will be available individually or in special value packs.
